Town of Occoquan
Settled in the 1730s, the first mention of the Town of Occoquan appears in the Virginia General Assembly in 1734 when it was directed that a tobacco warehouse be constructed on the north side of Occoquan Creek. Overtime, this quintessential little Virginia town has seen its ups and downs. Its history includes our founding fathers, manufacturing, shipping, the Civil War, fires and floods, and Occoquan is on the National Registry of Historic Places. The charm of this little gem of a town is obvious. Visitors have said, “Occoquan looks like a Hollywood set.”
